Win an N96 in the Wiki Widget competition
Forum Nokia is holding a Widget Wiki competition to be held from September 1st to 30th, 2008. The highest judged entry (or entries) will receive a Nokia N96 multimedia device and other top winners may receive a Nokia 6220 Classic device. The number of prizes will be determined by the number of entries with one prize for every ten entries. The rules are simple; contribute quality and topical code examples or articles around Widgets.
All code examples and articles submitted during the time period will be subjectively judged on how well they are presented, what the content is and the number of quality entries. For full information on the rules, prizes and judging see the Rules_of_Participation


Hoolee is the July Contributor of the month
Forum Nokia honors one member each month for their outstanding contribution to our community’s Wiki. The winner for the Month of July is hoolee who earned the Nokia developer’s community thanks for his contributions of several high quality articles and translations in Chinese.


Layout of Forum Nokia Wiki Home Renewed
Besides just layout renewal there are a few new elemants added to the front page. E.g. a new featured article is introduced every week, which will over time grow into a wide collection of Featured Articles picked and valued by the Wiki administrators. Also usernames of the contributors of recent articles were made more visible on the homepage.

Featured Article of the Week

In this week, we have a series of well designed articles which demonstrate how to develop a game in Java ME by SergioEstevao.

In the first article in its series, How to develop a game - Part 1, where SergioEstevao is going to approach all the basics for developing an application for mobile phones using Java ME.

In How to develop a game - Part 2, SergioEstevao has explained different User Interface(UI) elements and their relationship with class-diagrams.
How to develop a game - Part 3 describes how to create game screen for Game. For the game screen he used low level interface classes available in Java ME.
How to develop a game - Part 4 emphasizes on look of the game. The idea is to use some images to represent game entities instead of using Graphics draw/fill methods.
How to develop a game - Part 5 deals with saving high scores! SergioEstevao quotes: "What's the point of playing our game if we cannot save the scores to show off to our friends!!!"
How to develop a game - Part 6 demonstrates how to add sound in game application. SergioEstevao has used Java Mobile Multimedia API (MMAPI) for this purpose.
Final in its series How to develop a game - Part 7, uses HTTP connection to send high scores data to a central server and uses the SMS functionality to invite other friends to play the game.
