Overview

Most Series 40 devices offer an option to access the device's contacts from a certain type of text box. However, the Nokia 6212 Classic seems to fail in doing so.

Description

When displaying a TextBox using a TextField.PHONENUMBER as parameter, a Search option which can be used to open up the contacts is automatically presented. It seems that using this option makes the phone reboot. You just get to see a short glimpse of your contacts, then it dies. We haven't seen this behaviour in any other of the devices we have tested our application on, eg 6131 NFC, 6300, 3120 classic, 3110 classic.

How to reproduce

I was able to reproduce the behaviour described above by running a minimal midlet, which does nothing else but showing a phone number textbox.

Solution

I don't know of any work-around so far...
