This article is about the application called App Manager found on all S60 devices.
Its analogous to Add/Remove Software on the Windows OS.
Details about the App Manager application:
The application is found usually in Menu> Tools> App. mgr.
On newer S60 devices such as N95-8GB and N82 the App. mgr. is moved to
the Applications folder: Applications> App. mgr.
- Symbian C++ applications (sis) are shown in RED icons.
- Java ME-based applications are shown in BLUE icons.
- You can choose to install signed applications only through Settings.
- Certificates can be checked online if you have provided the web address.
- If during installation of a sis file you accidentally press cancel, the sis file still remains in the app manager. So you can start the installation again.
- For Java ME applications there is an Option called Suite Settings wherein you have lots of options related to that Java ME application. Options include Network access/Messaging/Connectivity/Multimedia/Read user data/Edit user data/Positioning/Landmarks settings.
