S60 5th Edition extends the possibilities for widget development with JavaScript extensions to access S60 Platform Services. Using these new commands, developers can access and use information from the application manager; S60 applications (Calendar, Contacts, Logs, Messaging [SMS and MMS]; device location and landmarks; system information; and sensors. Now widgets can add location and user-data context to the information they display.
