Creating your first FN.com Blog entry
From Forum Nokia Wiki
Step 1: If you have blog authoring rights, and you have logged on to Forum Nokia Web site, you should see the Editor Tools on the left hand side navigation bar (see oval 1 in the picture below). Click that link and you will enter the blog editing tools (the direct URL to the authoring environment is http://blogs.forum.nokia.com/admin.php).
Step 2: Click the link New Post under Manage Posts headline (this same option is also available in the menu Manage->Manage Posts->New Post). The following interface is shown:
Step 3: Enter a Topic for the new blog entry. This is the title for your blog entry. In addition the title is used for generating an easy-to-remember URL for your blog entry. This URL can be quite lengthy, so if you want a shorter URL for the entry, insert a short slug to be used in the URL in the field to the right of the Topic field.
Step 4: Enter the text for your blog entry in the text field named Text (and located underneath the Topic field). This WYSIWYG-text field contains some editing buttons for example for bolding the text, for text alignment, for list creation, for indentation, and adding some resources and links to the post. If you want to see and edit the HTML format of the posting, click the HTML button (in the second row, third one from right), which pops up a dialog window with a text field showing the HTML content.
Step 5: Select a global article category for the blog entry from the Global Category drop-down menu. This category is used to group the entry under the Global Article Category cloud (see the red oval 3 in the Blog front page screenshot above) on the Forum Nokia Blogs front page. There can be only one Global Category for each of the blog entries. Note: This drop-down menu is not shown in the figure above, it is below the Categories menu.
Step 6: In the simplest cases, you do not need to worry anything else, just skip the next five steps to the Step 12. However the next few steps provide some more details of the blog entry editing process.
Step 7: If needed, you can also add a number of category tags to the blog entry from the Categories multiple-selection menu. You can also add more Categories to this list with the text field and the Add button below the menu.
Step 8: Unless you are saving the entry as a draft for future editing, you can leave the Status field as <tt>Published.
Step 9: It is not necessary to change the Posted by field unless it shows a different user name than yours (this setting is only relevant if you have editor rights to someone else’s blog).
Step 10: You do not need to change the Date field, unless you want to postpone the publishing of the blog entry to some later date (for example if you want to make your blog appear active while you are out of the office). If you plan to edit the entry more in the future before publishing it, use the button Save Draft after completing this editing round instead of the button Blog This!.
Step 11: You can also enable/disable comments for this entry (the default depends on your blog settings), enable/disable email notifications for the comments (the default depends on your blog settings), and enable/disable trackback sending with the check boxes on the bottom right of the editor page. These check boxes are not shown in the figure above – you need to scroll down to see them.
Step 12: After you have completed the blog entry, just click the Blog This! button at the bottom right of the editor page (not shown in the screen shot above). In case you want to first see a preview of the entry in the real Forum Nokia Blog UI, click the Preview button. The Save Draft button saves the entry for later editing, but does not publish the entry.
