J2ME
From Forum Nokia Wiki
Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) is the old name for the Java ME platform, because Sun Microsystems took off the 2 from the name after publish new versions of the platforms (like Java 5 or Java 6).
Here's the somewhat bizarre history of Sun's Java technology version numbering:
| old name, or "developer version" | new name, or "product version" |
|---|---|
| Java 1.0 | |
| Java 1.1 | |
| Java2 1.2 | |
| Java2 1.3 | |
| Java2 1.4 | |
| Java2 1.5 | Java 5 |
| Java2 1.6 | Java 6 |
| ("Java2" phased out) | Java 7 |
