KIJ000687 - JSR-179: Slow access to landmark store
From Forum Nokia Wiki
| JSR-179: Slow access to landmark store | KIJ000687 | |
| Overview | - | |
| Category | Java | |
| Subcategory | Location API | |
| Reported against | S60 3rd Edition S60 3rd Edition, FP1 (early firmware versions) | |
| Date identified | June 25, 2007 | |
| Symptoms | - | |
| Detailed description | When using the LandmarkStore of the Location API (JSR-179) on S60 3rd Edition devices, retrieving landmarks is very slow. All landmark information is read right from the start even if some of the data is never used in the MIDlet. Because of this, the LandmarkStore.getLandmarks() method call gets slower the more landmarks there are. With a large number of landmarks (>500), the method call may take minutes. | |
| How to reproduce | - | |
| Solution | On S60 3rd Edition devices there is no workaround for this. This performance issue has been corrected in all S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 devices. Early firmware versions for S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 devices do not yet have this fix, although it will be introduced as part of the firmware upgrades for these devices. |
