Updating a MIDlet on the memory card fails after a backup restore.
1. Install a MIDlet on the memory card.
2. Perform a phone memory backup with the File Manager application.
Depending on the edition and device model, File Manager can be found in one of the following folders:
On newer S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 and S60 5th Edition devices, the backup option can be found by pressing Options (LSK) from File Browser. On older S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 devices, Backup can be found on the File Manager's list of drives.
3. After backup, reinstall the MIDlet.
4. Perform restore by using File Browser.
5. After device reboot, try to reinstall the MIDlet (regardless of version number) either on the phone or on the memory card.
For the affected devices, the installer prompts Unable to install.
6. Do a power cycle, i.e. turn the device off and turn it on again. Perform step 5. For the affected devices, the installer still prompts Unable to install.
