Bluetooth serial connection problems in S60 Nseries devices
|
KIS000562
|
Overview
| Random freezing of Bluetooth serial connection (RFCOMM) is observed in Nokia’s S60 Nseries devices. The connection stays active but no data is transmitted and no errors/events are received when freezing occurs. The observed interval of this freezing depends on the device and how actively the application transfers data over the connection. Typically, this happens once every few hours.

Solution
| This problem is corrected for S60 3rd Edition Nseries devices. The fix is included in week 38 or newer software builds (3.0638.x.x). S60 Eseries devices, Nokia 3250, and Nokia 5500 Sport are not affected by this issue. The problem has also been corrected in the latest software builds for S60 2nd Edition Nseries devices.
Applications can try to work around the problem by implementing a watchdog timer, that is, a timer that expires after a specified time of non-activity over the Bluetooth serial connection. Once expired, the connection is automatically closed and re-opened.
