1. RDA system requirements:

• A standard web-browser supporting JavaScript (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox)
• Java Web Start (usually included in the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)). The Java Runtime Environment can be installed from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ . The recommended JRE version is 5.0
• An Internet connection that allows outgoing connections on ports 80 and 1200 to the RPM server host.

When you login to RDA you may encounter the following screen if your web browser does not meet requirements of of RPM or it is incorrectly recognized:

Note: Java Web Start plug-in is not correctly detected when using Safari browser, so you may enable the check box and press Proceed.

Currently RDA supports the following browsers: Firefox v2+, Internet Explorer v7+, Opera v9.6+ or Safari v3+.

2. Starting Dev UI

The RDA Dev UI uses Java Web-start technology. This means that the application is running downloaded to your computer, where it then runs locally.

Java Web-start is usually included in the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If DevUI does not start on your computer, install the latest JRE from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads .

3. Connecting to the server

By default DevUI connects to the RPM server host on TCP port 1200. If you are not able to connect to the server please ask your system administrator to allow outgoing connections to it on TCP ports 80 and 1200.

Also make sure that Java Web Start is using the internet connection settings from your default browser.

To check the settigns please proceed as follows:

• Open the Java Control Panel (from Control Panel / Java)
• In the General tab select Network Settings...
• Make sure that Use browser settings is selected.

However if you are behind a proxy server, you may need to define your proxy address here. In this case also ensure that the proxy is able to tunnel the traffic to RDA server.

4. Known issues

• Certain special keys on a couple of devices might not work properly; for example the function key in E61
• A few special keys might not be implemented on few devices, for example mediabar key in 5800XM (due to technical limitations s of Symbian OS)
• Cursor is not visible in phone web browser. (technical limitation, we are investigating possible workarounds)
• Launching the RDA Java webstart client on Windows XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit may fail with the following error: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException... Workaround for XP 64-bit and Windows 7 is to install 32-bit JRE instead of the 64-bit version. For Vista 64-bit there's currently no workaround. This problem is specific only to 64-bit Windows versions.
