Review:

This article discusses an open source framework, called PureMVC which allows Java ME midlets to be created which follow the Model-View-Controller design pattern. This design pattern will be well-known to developers who have made use of Swing UI components in Java SE applications.

The article gives a brief overview of the basic structure of the framework and its major components through an illustrative code example showing a simple login use case. The example merely serves to illustrate the different components and how they communicate with one another through the use of the Observer design pattern.

In order to gain a full understand of PureMVC, a visit to the website is required, and a link is provided at the end of the article. This is an interesting article describing the use of an established design pattern for structuring applications. It remains to be seen whether MVC will be popular in mobile application design. Interestingly, MVC has been adopted to some extend in the LWUIT user interface framework, which mimics Swing (from Java SE) to some degree.
