Test houses
From Forum Nokia Wiki
There are four test houses within the Symbian Signed and/or Symbian Signed for Nokia program.
- Flander (located in Tampere, Finland and Beijing, China)
- Mphasis (located in Shanghai, China)
- NSTL (located in Blue Bell, USA)
- Sogeti (located in Grenoble, France)
Each test house had a chance to promote their testing and consultancy services to Forum Nokia developers in a test house webinar. Webinar sessions in .WMV format are available for download at [1]. The following is a summary of the presentations.
Flander
Flander (http://www.flander.com) is one of the leading providers of mobile software testing and development services. Flander’s customers include top-tier mobile handset manufacturers, independent software vendors, mobile operators and service providers. Flander has offices in Finland, Sweden and China. Flander employs 330+ software testing and development professionals.
Flander’s Symbian Signed for Nokia costs are (December 18th, 2007):
- Basic Symbian Signed (Express):
- first submission (in China): 185€
- resubmission (in China): 136€
- first submission (in Finland): 450€
- resubmission (in Finland): 300€
- passive content 25-60€ depending on the amount signed content
- Symbian Signed and Nokia tests for applications with sensitive capabilities (Symbian Signed criteria and Nokia test criteria excluding TPO-XX test cases):
- first submission (in China): 280€
- resubmission (in China): 250€
- first submission (in Finland): 700€
- resubmission (in Finland): 500€
- Symbian Signed and Nokia tests for applications in Nokia projects (Symbian Signed criteria and Nokia test criteria including TPO-XX test IDs):
- first submission (in China): 500€
- resubmission (in China): 400€
- first submission (in Finland): 1200€
- resubmission (in Finland): 800€
- NOTE! Client-server extra fee in every category: 0-300€ (client-server extra fee is dependent of the complexity of the application and the test category)

Mphasis
Mphasis test house is a Symbian Signed and Symbian Signed for Nokia test house. In order to help developer in the certification process, MphasiS provides a special service - "Basic Check" (Pre-test) before quotation. Pre-test is free for developer and checks some basic conditions for Symbian Signed, for example:
- Check the submitted package
- Verify the ACS Publisher ID
- Verify the version number
- Try to install/launch the application
Mphasis testing costs are(as of March 2007):
- Symbian Signed application:
- first round: 185€
- resubmissions: 160€
- Symbian Signed and Nokia tests (excl. NUI-01 - NUI-05), for applications with sensitive capabilities:
- first round: 280€
- resubmissions: 250€
- Symbian Signed and Nokia tests (whole test plan), for applications in Nokia projects:
- first round: 500€
- resubmissions: 350€

NSTL
NSTL does testing and certification in all programs, which Nokia supports: Symbian Signed, Symbian Signed for Nokia and Java Verified. They have testing premises in various contries and can perform testing e.g. in the USA, Latin America, Europe (UK) and India. In addition to certification programs, NSTL provides a separate testing service called appRelay. Services range from quality assurance testing to more "marketing oriented" services such as game evaluations. Components of the appRELAY program are designed to help clients manage the operational cycle of an application from development to deployment and include:
- Quality Assurance Testing
- Pre-Certification Testing
- Game Play
- Game Evaluations
- Localization and Internationalization

- Symbian Signed and Nokia tests (whole test plan), for applications in Nokia projects:
- first round: 1750€
- resubmissions: TBD

Sogeti
Sogeti High-Tech is a part of Capgemini. Sogeti does testing and certification in all programs, which Nokia supports: Symbian Signed, Symbian Signed for Nokia and Java Verified. In addition, Sogeti provides additional testing services for mobile application developers. These include e.g. beta-testing and certification consultation.
